2. Information Only — Not Legal Advice
The content published on this Website — including articles, blog posts, success stories, case summaries, service descriptions, and any other materials — is provided for general informational purposes only. Nothing on this Website constitutes legal advice, and nothing should be relied upon as such.
Every legal matter is unique. The information on this Website is general in nature and may not apply to your specific circumstances. You should not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of anything you read on this Website without first seeking independent professional legal advice tailored to your situation.
Receipt of or access to information on this Website does not create a paralegal–client relationship of any kind.
3. No Paralegal–Client Relationship
Submitting a contact form, sending an email, or communicating with this office in any other way through this Website does not create a paralegal–client relationship. A paralegal–client relationship is only established when:
- A retainer agreement has been signed by both you and Lisa Duchene; and
- Lisa Duchene has expressly agreed in writing to act on your behalf.
Until a formal retainer is in place, no confidentiality obligations, duties of loyalty, or professional obligations arise. You should not disclose confidential or sensitive information through this Website prior to retaining this office.
4. Scope of Paralegal Practice
Lisa Duchene is licensed by the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) as a Class P1 Paralegal. Under the Law Society Act and LSO by-laws, Ontario paralegals are authorized to provide legal services in the following areas:
- Proceedings before the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB)
- Proceedings before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO)
- Small Claims Court matters (claims up to $50,000)
- Provincial Offences Act matters
- Summary conviction criminal offences where a maximum sentence of no more than six months imprisonment may be imposed
- Notarization and commissioning of documents
Paralegals in Ontario are not permitted to provide legal services in areas outside this scope, including family law, civil litigation in Superior Court, real estate transactions, corporate law, immigration, or criminal matters that carry a potential sentence exceeding six months. If your matter falls outside the authorized scope of paralegal practice, you will be referred to a licensed lawyer.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AI Paralegal and Lisa Duchene shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, or expense of any kind arising from your use of, or reliance on, any information contained on this Website. 6. No Guarantee of Results
Past results described on this Website, including success stories and case summaries, are provided for illustrative purposes only. They do not constitute a guarantee, warranty, or prediction of the outcome of any future matter. Every case is decided on its own facts, and results will vary.
7. Confidentiality of Communications
Communications sent through this Website's contact form or by email prior to the establishment of a formal retainer are not protected by solicitor–client or paralegal–client privilege. You should avoid sending sensitive or confidential details until a retainer has been signed and a paralegal–client relationship has been established.
